I received the Canon Pixma TS5140 printer as a free sample to review, and here is my honest review of the printer. Overall, I enjoyed the printer. For starters, it came with two ink cartridges, one black, and one multi-color. I loved that the printer only has two ink cartridges because, in the past, I had printers that had black cartridges and three or more colors. At first, I had trouble installing the cartridges because the cartridge holder did not move to the center of the printer, so I installed it right away. I had to turn it off and on again several times to get the ink cartridge holder moving.

However, once I understood this, it was elementary to install the ink cartridges. I simply removed the tape and inserted it. It didn’t take long to get ready to print, in seconds it was available. In the past, I had printers that took five minutes or more to “load” ink, and the Pixma TS5140 did not. The instructions that came with the book made it easy to print from my computer. I wrote a lot of color photos for art projects for my kids at school. The print was high quality and didn’t take long, either. I had trouble getting the printer to print from my phone. The instructions were not very clear.

I think it would have been easier if there had been step-by-step instructions. One of the reasons why I think I had problems was that there were no instructions on how to set up the Wi-Fi. I had to discover Wi-Fi on my own, forcing me to go through all the buttons on the printer. But once I installed it, it worked great! The image quality was once again excellent. I printed some color images. One thing that surprised me was the fact that we published a ton of high-quality images as well as black and white documents before the printer started showing that the ink was running out. And still, I can print more.
